Philosophy and Objectives
The program in Radiologic Technology at McNeese State University is dedicated to providing educational opportunities, which prepare students for their future roles in the health care profession as radiographers. The learning opportunities are organized to develop the intellectual, interpersonal, and psychomotor skills of the students. The education takes place within an institution designed to facilitate learning opportunities through formal instruction, independent study, and selected supervised experiences. Students are encouraged to accept responsibility for the learning process and to develop an intellectual curiosity so as to promote critical thinking in decision-making and problem solving. A clinical competency-based evaluation provides a uniform method of preparing the student to function as an integral member of the health care team in a variety of clinical situations. This philosophy, in agreement with the general University philosophy, dictates an educational program, which is dedicated to the development of professional competence and the fostering of an individual's abilities. The opportunity to advance toward career objectives through quality instruction that integrates theory and concepts reflective of current practice in the discipline is the primary purpose of the program.
