Fred I. Denny is an Associate Professor in the Department of Engineering at McNeese State University. He is a Fellow of the IEEE and a Professional Engineer in Louisiana, Alabama, and Georgia. He is currently a member of the NSPE, the Louisiana Engineering Society, the Baton Rouge Chapter of ISA, the IEEE Power Engineering Education Committee, the Editorial Board for IEEE Computer Applications in Power Magazine, the CIGRE U.S. National Committee. He is Secretary of the CIRED U.S. National Committee, and IEEE Student Branch Counselor. He was involved in the engineering design of an energy management system and performed economic and security analyses as a department manager at Southern Company Services (SCS) in Birmingham, Alabama. While at SCS he chaired IEEE and EPRI task forces and committees on power system planning and operations and received the IEEE Power System Engineering Committee's Award for Distinguished Service. From 1979 to 1995 he was employed at the Edison Electric Institute (EEI) in Washington, DC, serving as EEI Vice President of Engineering and Environmental Affairs. While at EEI, he lectured at George Washington University and served on Mississippi State University's Research Advisory Committee. He was a co-founder and the first President of the Power Engineering Education Foundation.
