Didactic Program in Dietetics

Dietetics is the science and art of applying the principles of food and nutrition to health.  It's a vital, growing profession with many career possibilities. The Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD) at McNeese State University is located in the Department of Nutrition and Family Studies which is housed in the College of Science.  The DPD has been granted accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education (CADE) of the American Dietetic Association (ADA). CADE is ADA's accrediting agency for education programs preparing students for careers as registered dietitians.  CADE can be contacted at:

Upon completion of the DPD students receive a Bachelor of Science degree in Family and Consumer Sciences with a concentration in Dietetics. Only graduates from an accredited/approved academic program (DPD) are eligible to apply for accredited dietetic internships (DI) leading to the RD examination.
