Hello, and thanks for visiting my Web page!

I’m David Armstrong, and this page starts you on the path to finding out more about me, my interests, and my work. I am currently an Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice at McNeese State University, located in Lake Charles, Louisiana. The main thrust of my academic duties is directed at the field of law enforcement and criminal justice, and I also have been known to teach some introductory courses in the field of sociology.

In addition to my academic duties, I remain actively involved in the field of law enforcement. I work with the Lake Charles City Marshal’s Office as their director of training, and have provided consulting and training services to many law enforcement agencies around the United States, both with The Janissary Group, which is my own organization, and through JUSTEX, Inc., of Huntsville, Texas. I have been certified and/or commissioned as a Peace Officer in Oklahoma, Texas, and Louisiana, and am certified as a Police Instructor.

To top it off, as if that was not enough, I am also quite active in the world of firearms. I am a competitive shooter in the disciplines of the United States Practical Shooting Association and National Rifle Association Action Pistol, and am a member of several shooting organizations. As a strong believer in the 2nd Amendment, I support the right of honest citizens to own firearms, and have spoken extensively in support of that right. Since Louisiana recently passed legislation that will allow people to carry concealed firearms, I have become involved with that training, and became the 10th assigned Louisiana State Police Concealed Handgun Instructor in the State.

And of course, a big thank you to James Sennett, MSU Social Sciences WebMaster, for putting this stuff together, and a thank you to you for swinging by and visiting!
